July 14-16 2017 – LIMA FAMILY REUNION

Now it’s time to get ready for the Lima three day Family reunion at Meadow Brook Park, in Chevy Chase MD.  Another great reunion, I know so many of Nes’ family and I’ve attended so many of his reunions I feel as though I’m part of that family also.

I was so excited to see people I hadn’t seen in years, but the best part for me is always the little ones, or even the teenagers.  I just Love having conversations with them.  I hadn’t seen some of them since they were 2 or 3 years old, and now they were driving.  WOW!  It’s a sizable family so it’s a pretty big reunion.

For me, one of the most meaningful moments  was a special impromptu production of a Cape Verde reenactment of how the Grandmother and Grandfather came to meet, and their first visits to the United States.   Although it was very simple, I thought it was really well done.  Both the older adults and the younger ones played different roles, and that was so exciting and special.

I enjoyed it immensely.  The pictures I took don’t do it justice, and I believe someone actually did a video.  At some point I’d love to get a copy and post it.

After the Lima reunion, it was back to NJ to get ready for the wedding of the year, another  three day event.  The WEDDING OF THE YEAR!.  WHEW!!!  Route 95 here I come AGAIN!
