POST 2 SLAYING THE DRAGON! September 29, 2023

“Here be dragons to be slain, here be rich rewards to gain.”

Dorothy L. Sayers

I’m currently at RWJ HOSPITAL, preparing for a PORT implant in preparation for my upcoming chemo treatments. For those familiar with my journey, it marks my second encounter with the adversary I’ve named TAZ. However, today, I’m here to share a rather amusing tale.

SLAY A DRAGON

I woke up this morning feeling invincible, as if it were time for me to conquer a dragon. That’s the kind of spirit I brought with me to the hospital.

Upon arrival, the medical staff explained that I would only be partially sedated during the procedure, needing to remain semi-conscious. They secured me in place and positioned my head to the side, and then the procedure began.

An incision was made in my chest, and although I felt no pain, I could perceive the sensation of an artery being cut and a blood vessel being severed, with blood spouting. It was surreal, and I remember thinking that it couldn’t be real, because if it were, I surely would have passed out. WOW! WOW! And another resounding WOW!

The next thing I knew, I was being wheeled back to the recovery room. Upon arrival, I found myself explaining to a nurse how I couldn’t stop expressing my love for the operating team. She chuckled and gave me a sidelong glance, saying, “Well, honey, that would have been the ‘juice’ talking.”

“yea honey that would have been the juice talking”

I couldn’t believe it. She revealed that they had given me a dose of something delightful before the procedure, and we both shared a good laugh.

Evidently, the “juice” was still working because I continued professing my love, not just for her but even for the paint color on the door. I couldn’t help myself.

It got me thinking about how a little dose of happiness can work wonders every day. My mind was buzzing with ideas, some of which I can’t even recall. It was at that moment I decided to start this blog, fearing I might forget something important.

I envisioned numerous ways to take Daisy List to the next level and bring it to the world once I triumph over TAZ.

As I prayed for a successful procedure, I also prayed for bold new steps for DAISY LIST. And guess what? I came up with some phenomenal ideas to expand DAISY LIST worldwide.

The moment they removed the IV, I began writing this blog. Here are some of the exciting new plans:

Bringing a marketing team on board.

  1. Bringing a marketing team on board.
  2. Developing multiple logos for various audiences and languages.
  3. Expanding our presence on social media.
  4. Sharing the inspiring stories of other survivors to encourage everyone never to give up!

So, let’s get to work! It’s time to replace your Bucket List (future plans) with a DAISY LIST (do-it-now plans). Don’t wait; start today. Grab your Daisy List mug and begin jotting down your dreams.

Start with a small notebook or any piece of paper, even a napkin—anything will do.

  • Day 1: Write ONE word on the page. It should represent a DREAM.
  • Day 2: Add a couple more words to elaborate on the first word.
  • Day 3: Expand the idea into a full sentence with a detailed description.
  • Day 4: Aim for a paragraph, providing further details about your idea.
  • Day 6: Add dates, times, and maybe even places—give it some substance.
  • Day 7: Take a moment to reflect and see if this is the path you want to pursue. If it is, commit to it and keep moving forward. If it’s not, no worries; start over. At least you’ll have a small blueprint. Read it daily, close your eyes, visualize it daily. This is just the beginning.

Use the Daisy List symbols to remind yourself, every day, all day, to take steps toward that dream you’ve been harboring for so long.
