I’ve shared my cancer journey pretty much the whole way. treatments, recovery and the whole nine yards. But once you’ve been down that road, you begin to really understand the URGENCY OF LIFE.
I’ve become so swept up in trying to push the message I just can’t say it enough
“Live your Best life NOW!”
Not somewhere down the road, not in some distance future,
Live your DREAM LIFE right now.
Sing your Song, Dance your Dance, create your Art, do all of it, just
DO IT NOW!
I recently had my 5 YEAR check-up and I passed with flying colors and everything is GREAT! For a cancer survivor 5 years is a BIG MILESTONE, even though we understand deep down you’re never totally out of the woods. But then none of us are.
When I look back, I remember after one of my early treatments, I received a small plant from 2 women I barely knew at the time, 2 sisters, Sylvia and Hattie. Over time, I received many flowers, cards and small care packages from so many friends and family. But Sylvia and Hattie were the first, and it had a powerful effect on me. I always remember that day. I was so emotional about the gesture, I cried. I still have that plant today, and if you know me, you know that’s a total miracle. No green thumb AT ALL! However here she is 5 years later. Not bad huh, her name is, you guessed it, DAISY!
These last few months have been a dark hour for all of us. But I wanted to remember to be as kind and patient as I can toward everyone. None of us knows what could be going on in a person’s life. One kind word or gesture can make all the difference in their day. I think of receiving the plant that day, and I try to remember to reach out to friends, loved ones and even strangers to give a few words of comfort, especially if they are dealing with cancer or any tsunami.
The run/walks are good, donations are great, but just do something extra, like a phone call or a card for someone.
Ok, I know no one will believe this. Just this minute as I was working on this post, a friendly neighbor of mine sent me the following image with a text message that read: “Good Morning Dear One – Savor the gift of this new day”
Swear to GOD!
OUT OF THE BLUE! Gave me goose bumps!
I GUESS small gestures really work because I feel great after that little text.
THANK YOU LEONIA
